SÉRIE 'O BRASIL NAS COPAS DO MUNDO' - Jogador #9: Ronaldo - "O Fenômeno"
Em 2014, a Copa do Mundo de Futebol foi disputada no Brasil. Esta série de caches tem o objetivo de celebrar este evento e repassar a história da seleção brasileira nas Copas do Mundo, do Campeonato de 1958 ao Pentacampeonato de 2002 e, quem sabe, o Hexacampeonato em 2018, na Rússia.
Dado que estamos aqui falando de futebol, foram selecionados, para esta série, 11 jogadores, representativos de cada um dos 5 campeonatos ganhos pelo Brasil desde 1958. Para cada campeonato ganho, 2 jogadores, num total de 10 jogadores, dos quais 1 é goleiro. E, para representar o conjunto da obra brasileira nas copas do mundo, o Rei do Futebol: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, o Pelé.
A escolha dos jogadores obedeceu a um critério: a relevância ou representatividade daquele jogador para a história do futebol brasileiro, no humilde entendimento do owner desta série de caches! O objetivo não é montar a "seleção brasileira dos sonhos" pois este owner sabe que, a depender das preferências individuais de cada um, a discussão poderia ser eterna.

JOGADOR #9: Ronaldo - "O Fenômeno"
Ronaldos que brilham no futebol mundial tem havido muitos nos últimos anos. No entanto, somente um deles é 'O Fenômeno': Ronaldo Nazário de Lima, natural da cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
Sua brilhante carreira no futebol começou em um pequeno time do Rio de Janeiro, o São Cristóvão. Até hoje, aqueles que passam pela Linha Vermelha, via de acesso ao centro do Rio de Janeiro, conseguem ver o campo do São Cristóvão e, no muro, a inscrição: "São Cristóvão F.R. - Aqui nasceu o Fenômeno" (Street View: S22 54.330 W043 12.843).
Ronaldo defendeu diversos clubes após o São Cristóvão. Seu primeiro grande clube foi o Cruzeiro, o mesmo no qual brilhou outro jogador desta série, Tostão. As equipes que defendeu são uma constelação do futebol mundial. De Belo Horizonte, foi direto para a Holanda (PSV Eindhoven). Competiu na Espanha (Barcelona e Real Madrid), na Itália (Inter de Milão e A.C.Milan) e novamente no Brasil (Corinthians).
Se por um lado brilhante, a carreira de Ronaldo também foi pontuada por diversos problemas físicos. Na Copa de 1998, sofreu uma convulsão antes da partida final contra a França - episódio misterioso que até hoje pouca gente entendeu e que rendeu até mesmo uma investigação parlamentar em Brasília. Em 1999, sofreu um rompimento no ligamento no joelho, durante um jogo pelo campeonato italiano em que foi possível visualizar claramente a rótula solta por dentro da perna. E, por fim, sua carreira terminou em 2011 por conta das dores que sentia das lesões sofridas e em função de hipotireodismo, condição até então desconhecida do público.

'BRAZIL IN THE WORLD CUPS' GEOCACHE SERIES
In 2014, the World Cup of Soccer took place in Brazil. The objective of this cache series is to celebrate that event and review the history of the Brazilian national team in the World Cups, from the first victory in 1958 up to the fifth one in 2002 and, who knows, the 6th one in 2018, in Russia.
Given that we’re speaking about football here, a total of 11 players were picked for this cache series, representing each one of the 5 world cups won by Brazil since 1958. For each championship won, 2 players; 10 in total, 1 of them a goalkeeper. And, representing the Brazilian national team assembled conquests in the World Cups, the King of Football: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pelé.
The players’ selection followed one criterion: the relevance or representativeness of each player to the Brazilian soccer history, in the humble opinion of this series’ cache owner! The objective is not to assemble the “all time Brazilian national dream team” because this owner know that, depending on each one’s particular preferences, there would be eternal discussion!
BTW: thinking on the development of a ‘tourist friendly’ cache series, any information needed to solve the mysteries in this cache series can be found in English over the internet – a nicely done Google search, even with an English input, will do it – believe me, I’ve tested it!
You may pursue the whole series in one single sequence or to pick your favorite players to go after, as you prefer. If you want to go after the whole series, it is recommended to do it in the same order of the players and to be prepared for a 3km walk

PLAYER #9: Ronaldo - "The Phenomenom"
There have been quite some famous Ronaldos in soccer world in recent years. However, only one of them is 'The Phenomenon': Ronaldo Nazario de Lima, born in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
His brilliant football career began in a small team of Rio de Janeiro, São Cristóvão. Even today, those who pass by the Linha Vermelha access road to the center of Rio de Janeiro can see the São Cristóvão field and the inscription on the wall: "São Cristóvão FR - Aqui nasceu o Fenômeno". In English: "São Cristóvão FR - The Phenomenom was born here" (Street View: S22 W043 54 330 12 843).
