SÉRIE 'O BRASIL NAS COPAS DO MUNDO' - Jogador #6: Tostão - "O Vice Rei"
Em 2014, a Copa do Mundo de Futebol foi disputada no Brasil. Esta série de caches tem o objetivo de celebrar este evento e repassar a história da seleção brasileira nas Copas do Mundo, do Campeonato de 1958 ao Pentacampeonato de 2002 e, quem sabe, o Hexacampeonato em 2018, na Rússia.
Dado que estamos aqui falando de futebol, foram selecionados, para esta série, 11 jogadores, representativos de cada um dos 5 campeonatos ganhos pelo Brasil desde 1958. Para cada campeonato ganho, 2 jogadores, num total de 10 jogadores, dos quais 1 é goleiro. E, para representar o conjunto da obra brasileira nas copas do mundo, o Rei do Futebol: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, o Pelé.
A escolha dos jogadores obedeceu a um critério: a relevância ou representatividade daquele jogador para a história do futebol brasileiro, no humilde entendimento do owner desta série de caches! O objetivo não é montar a "seleção brasileira dos sonhos" pois este owner sabe que, a depender das preferências individuais de cada um, a discussão poderia ser eterna.
Você poderá fazer a série inteira de uma só vez ou escolher os jogadores de sua preferência. Caso você deseje fazer a série inteira, recomenda-se fazer pela ordem dos jogadores e preparar-se para uma caminhada de uns 3km

JOGADOR #6: Tostão - "O Vice Rei"
Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade, o Tostão, nasceu em Belo Horizonte, no Estado de Minas Gerais. Começou a carreira de futebolista jogando pela Associação Esportiva dos Industriários. Por ser pequeno e o mais novo do time, ganhou o apelido de tostão, uma analogia aos poucos centavos que, àquela época, já eram moeda desvalorizada.
Desvalorizada a moeda, valorizado o jogador. Foi um dos grandes jogadores do futebol nacional e internacional. Jogou praticamente toda sua carreira no Cruzeiro. Foi em 1966 que Tostão ganhou seu outro apelido - foi numa vitória de 5x0 contra o grandioso Santos de Pelé, no Mineirão (Street View: S19 51.799 W043 58.261). Após a estrondosa vitória, os jornalistas tiraram uma foto com uma coroa na cabeça de Tostão e, no dia seguinte, a manchete nos jornais dizia: "Tostão, o Novo Rei". Tostão, humildemente, não aceitou a alcunha, afirmando que o verdadeiro Rei era Pelé. Nascia então, o "Vice Rei".

'BRAZIL IN THE WORLD CUPS' GEOCACHE SERIES
In 2014, the World Cup of Soccer took place in Brazil. The objective of this cache series is to celebrate that event and review the history of the Brazilian national team in the World Cups, from the first victory in 1958 up to the fifth one in 2002 and, who knows, the 6th one in 2018, in Russia.
Given that we’re speaking about football here, a total of 11 players were picked for this cache series, representing each one of the 5 world cups won by Brazil since 1958. For each championship won, 2 players; 10 in total, 1 of them a goalkeeper. And, representing the Brazilian national team assembled conquests in the World Cups, the King of Football: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pelé.
The players’ selection followed one criterion: the relevance or representativeness of each player to the Brazilian soccer history, in the humble opinion of this series’ cache owner! The objective is not to assemble the “all time Brazilian national dream team” because this owner know that, depending on each one’s particular preferences, there would be eternal discussion!
BTW: thinking on the development of a ‘tourist friendly’ cache series, any information needed to solve the mysteries in this cache series can be found in English over the internet – a nicely done Google search, even with an English input, will do it – believe me, I’ve tested it!
You may pursue the whole series in one single sequence or to pick your favorite players to go after, as you prefer. If you want to go after the whole series, it is recommended to do it in the same order of the players and to be prepared for a 3km walk

PLAYER #6: Tostão - "The Viceroy"
Eduardo Gonçalves de Andrade, aka Tostão, was born in Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais. He began his career as a ootballer playing for the Sports Association of industrialists. Being the smallest and youngest on the team, earned the nickname Tostão ("Penny" or "Cents" in approximate translation), an analogy to the already undervalued currency at that time.
Devalued the currency, valued player. He was one of the great players of national and international football. He played almost his entire career at Cruzeiro. It was in 1966 that he earned his another nickname - in a victory of 5-0 against the mighty Santos of Pelé, at the Mineirão stadium (Street View: S19 51.799 W043 58.261). After the resounding victory, the journalists took a photo with a crown on the head of Tostão and the next day, the headline in the newspapers said "Tostão, the New King." Tostão humbly declined the nickname, saying that the true King was Pelé. Then was born the "Viceroy".
