Welcome to Marion County, Ohio! The Marion County Convention & Visitors Bureau has teamed up with local geocachers to bring you the Marion County, Ohio Geotrail. This geotrail will take you to locations around Marion County so you can see what our great county has to offer! We're confident you will enjoy this geotrail, and "You'll Feel Right At Home" in Marion County! Those who complete the geotrail and required worksheet will receive a nice geocoin, trackable at geocaching.com, as a token of appreciation. Quantities are limited so be sure to start today!
Marion County, Ohio Geotrail Kickoff Event
There is a 6.00 fee for the event. If you are not participating in the days activities, you are still more than welcome to stop by and visit with other cachers!
To give you the opportunity to check out this geotrail, we have coordinated a Geocaching Event planned around the days activities. These activities are open to all geocachers, and we welcome families and friends! Here is the schedule:
11:00AM - Arrive at the posted coordinates. You will check in and recieve a GeoBingo gamepiece collection card for each unique geocaching username. This game of GeoBingo will take you to 7 locations around Marion, Ohio where you will retrieve a gamepiece. Once you have collected all gamepieces you will return to the posted coordinates at the posted time to submit your gamepieces and see if you qualify for the grand prize. You will also receive 10 of the 22 available geotrail cache coordinates that you will have 5 hours to work on during your GeoBingo travels.
3:30-4:00PM - Return to the posted coordinates with your completed gamepiece card for GeoBingo. Turn in gamepiece
4:00PM - Eat / Socialize / Share Caching Stories
5:00PM - GeoBingo Playoff Game (if needed), Raffles, Door Prizes, Etc.
5:45PM - Receive final 12 geotrail coordinates and event close. Depart site to continue working on your geotrail worksheets, geocache, or spend the night at an area hotel to complete your geotrail on Sunday.

Planning for an event of this size takes time and cooperation from everyone. We ask that you post your will attend log with the following information:

*If you and your partner use one geocaching username, then you would receive one game card as a couple. If you and your partner each have your own geocaching username then you would each receive one card.
GeoBingo Explanation
When you check in at the posted coordinates, you will receive a GeoBingo gamepiece collection card. You will follow the directions on the card which will take you to 7 locations around the Marion, Ohio area. You will pick up a gamepiece at each of these locations and affix to your gamecard. Once you have completed your gamecard, be sure to return it to the posted coordinates at the proper time (shown above) to see if you are a winner. Any 5 in a row bingo will be accepted as a winner. You can submit a card with gamepieces 1-5 affixed to your card, but we highly recommend you complete all 7 gamepieces to have a better chance of winning. When you arrive back at the posted coordinates with your completed card, you will be issued an actual bingo card. We will then scan your gamepieces and mark your card with the corresponding correct numbers. Anyone who scores a BINGO will be declared a winner. If we do not have an outright BINGO, we will then take the partially completed gamecards and play a game of BINGO to determine a winner. TIEBREAKER: If we have more than 1 winner from collecting game pieces, or if we have more than 1 winner from the actual game of BINGO from partially completed BINGO cards, we will take those individuals to another full round of BINGO with a new card to determine a winner. We will continue this until we have only 1 winner.
