12:45 - 1:05 pm, Saturday, September, 29 Come out and experience Metamora's Canal Boat, the Ben Franklin III. Will you choose to 'sail away' or remain behind and wish others bon voyage? This flash mob is for both groups!
What's a cruise without a proper sendoff? This flash mob party will begin on shore and move onto the boat as participants either get ready for their scenic cruise or stay behind and explore the historic canal town of Metamora!
Sailors can step back in time while taking a leisurely 25-minute cruise on the Ben Franklin III. The Ben Franklin was designed and constructed in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Designed as a freighter, the vessel is 75 feet long and has a beam (width) of 12 feet. Constructed of wood and fiberglass, it holds approximately 75 passengers and crew. Along the route you'll pass the Duck Creek Aqueduct, a covered bridge that carries the canal 16 feet over Duck Creek. It is believed to be the only structure of its kind in the nation. In 2005, the state of Indiana completed some repair/refurbishment work on the old wooden Aqueduct and on the gates for lock #24 just east of town.
If you'd like to take the optional boat tour as part of this event please indicate the number of people traveling in your will-attend log. Tickets are $4 for adults, and $2 for kids 12 and under - this is a dollar off per ticket just for our group! If you're over 89 or under 2, you get to ride for free! Payment will be collected at the dock (cash only please) and the boat will launch at precisely 1pm!
