Geocache Description:

Little Bridges 86

Via Clay Quarry

The first waypoint is for a small sample tube that will give you directions for the 2nd stage.

When you arrive at Stage 2, stand infront of the gate with the Clay Quarry sign on it and face the lake (this used to be a physical stage, so dont follow the co-ordinates exactly), collect the following information: The number of signs on the chainlink gate =A, The number of red letters on the Clay Quarry sign with the blue boarder =B, The number of signs on the green fence/gate =C, Look at a warning sign with a red box at the bottom, how many words? =D, turn 180°, how many lamp posts can you see (whilst still standing in-front of the chainlink gate) =E.

The cache and Little Bridge can be found at:

N 51° 16.ABC W 2° 9.ADE

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.

This little bridge is certainly in the middle of nowhere, and can be found along an overgrown footpath that will take you along one of two main water ways that form Bitham Brook. You will come across views of the clay quarry near the old cement works in Westbury.

I recommend wearing long trousers, boots and long sleeves to avoid being scratched or stung; regardless of the time of year. I would ask that you do your best to avoid trampling the foliage down to ease your way, as I feel that it adds to the overall experience of the cache and turns it into a "mini adventure", and will preserve the experience for the next cacher to come along.

Accessibility

The cache is neither wheelchair, or pushchair accessible unfortunately. Please do not complain about the overgrown nature of the footpath in your logs, as I have given you ample warning about the conditions you might expect. Try to look at this cache as a challenge!

Happy hunting!

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- www.littlebridgesseries.co.uk . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan via the Little Bridges website with your caching name, name of your Little Bridge and the GC code and he will give you a number for your bridge. To qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches "Little Bridges # xxxx then the name" including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
