Geocache Description:

This adventure will lead you through a virtual maze, as you try to navigate your way to the maze exit, where the geocache awaits you!

The cache is not at the above location. To find the cache you will need to navigate through an invisible maze in the Marys River Park using Wherigo. Please note that the park is only open from 8:00am - 10:00pm.

Download the Philomath Maze Wherigo Cartridge here.

CARTRIDGE ACTIVATION CODE: GC3QX0E

After entering the activation code, you will also be asked to locate and enter a secret code word; this is to prevent cachers from trying to use an emulator to solve the maze .

Estimated Time to Complete: 60-90 minutes

Although your first approach for navigating this maze may be to find the quickest way through to the end, there may be advantages in taking the time to explore the whole maze!

As you navigate the maze, be careful of the uneven ground.

Although not required, you will find it a big help if you bring a pen and some paper, so that you can trace out the maze as you work your way through it.

Upon arriving at the maze entrance, and all subsequent zones within the maze, an image of your location within the maze will be displayed on the screen. The number within the circle is your current location and the other numbers are the zones you can navigate to from that location. There is also an N with an arrow indicating North to help you orient yourself.

Once you've completed the maze, you will be given the coordinates for the cache. The cache is a camo'ed peanut butter jar, hidden in the crotch of a tree. Due to tree cover, the best we could get was 35 foot accuracy, so use your geosenses ... the cache shouldn't be too hard to find.

The Wherigo engine on the Garmin GPS's can be a bit frustrating at times; it will indicate that you are 0 feet from a zone, and yet it won't show that you've entered the zone. If that happens, continue moving around a bit, and even try exiting and then re-entering the zone; eventually the engine will acknowledge that you've entered the zone!

I want to extend my many thanks (and gratitude) to Moss Troopers, who were kind enough to allow us to copy their maze idea.

Congratulations to Zero Montana for FTF honors!
