Okay, a bunch of us have paddled the upstream section of Geist, now it is time to paddle the downstream section.
Parking is very limited, so best to double triple up, depending on our numbers. Start is from the Geist Dam parking lot. If need be, we can park cars down the road at 79th and Fall Creek and car pool up to the dam.
There are no facilities at the launch point. However, there is food and restrooms at 79th/Fall Creek.
The portage to the lake is about .25 mile on a gravel path that has some mild terrain. Water level should not be a problem as the lake is pretty deep here.
Bring your own boat or rent one.
Bring your boat, friends, family, and picnic lunch.
Meet at the water at 8am
Bring your paddle boat (canoe or kayak).
From here we will paddle out into the reservoir.
Paddlers will meet at the park ready to paddle at 8am.
Please bring your PFDs, water, sunscreen and GPSr.
If you don't have a kayak or canoe, you may be able to rent one at Rusted Moon Outfitters in Broad Ripple, or at the Geist Marina.
Rusted Moon allows you to haul the rental elsewhere, $40 per day
White River Canoe Company in Noblesville also has rentals, don't know if they only run a livery or if you can haul the boat elsewhere.
