Geocache Description:

The Geolympix Marathon series is set out in 5 rings, covering a total distance of 26.2 miles/42.2Km. It's located in the beautiful Chiltern Hills, around the picturesque villages of Turville, Skirmett and Fingest, close to the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border. The route is mostly on footpaths and bridleways, with the occasional short section on minor roads. Please take care if caching with children. The terrain is mixed: yes, there are some hills, but the views from the top are fantastic! There are also some great pubs close to the ring intersections and along the route.

The Chiltern Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which stretches from the River Thames in Oxfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire and is nationally-protected as some of the finest countryside in the UK. The Chilterns are one of the most wooded areas of England, with one-fifth covered by woodland. The area is well-known for its beech trees, but ash, cherry and oak are also widespread. There is a huge variety of wildlife with the Red Kite now being a common sight, since its reintroduction to the area in the early 1990’s.
