Geocache Description:

The museum
The cantonal archaeological museum takes up residence in one of the building surrounding the courtyard of the Palais du Peyrou in the centre of the cantonal capital.

The excavations made in the course of the 2nd correction of the Jura waters in the 1960s and the following interventions lined to the constructions of the highway A5 led to the discovery of hundreds of thousands of archaeological objects. The antiquated and rather old rooms of the current museum were unsuitable to host the new findings.

In October 1998 the canton of Neuchatel started the construction of a new cantonal archaeological museum here in Hauterive. In September 2001 the Museum was officially opened by the Federal Councilwoman Ruth Dreifuss.

The cache
This is the first cache we have hidden, on the 34th wedding anniversary of my mom and dad (Geert & Myriam). You do not have to buy a ticket for the museum. The cache should be easy to grab along the lake of Neuchâtel.

Don't forget to bring tweezers* and your own pencil!
