Geolympix Cyclerama: Keep Calm & Cycle On Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: After the craziness of Sunday and the Marathon event on Monday (very tough if you were doing the walk!) this was a much more relaxed affair, with a great pub-garden atmosphere, the use of Nordic Geolf (we ran out of time to set it up at the Geolympix) and general chatting in the shade of some very welcome big trees. Still very hot out on the Phoenix Trail though! Huge thanks to everyone who came along, joined in and helped me continue to wind down in true Geocaching Pub Meet style [:)]

For people after an 11-in-11 souvenir, Groundspeak have confirmed they won't be releasing one, so here's one I prepared earlier: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/large/6ada25ef-4f7d-4fbc-bcfb-dc9c341ac4d6.jpg - You can add it to your profile by adapting the HTML seen here: http://www.geolympix.com/how.html

Since a whole month has passed since this memorable meet and all TBs and Geocoins have been booked out it's time to archive it. We're hoping to make a photo book of the best pictures from the Geolympix programme, so please send your best shots to team@geolympix.com and you could win a copy. Thanks!

Cheers again and see you all again for Geolympix 2013 or 2014? (location/s TBC)

Geocache Description:

A Geolympix meet for people doing the Cyclerama Series on the near-by Phoenix Trail cycle route. The pub is about 1/3 along from Thame and 2/3 along the trail from Princes Risborough, so try to drop in on the way, or the way back. And hope for good weather!

Where: Three Horseshoes, Chinnor Road, Towersey OX39 3QY. 01844 212322.

When: From 12pm to 3pm on Tuesday July 24th 2012. The kitchen stops taking food orders at 2.20pm though!

What: A GeoKid and GeoDog (both are allowed inside on a lead. I think I heard that right...) friendly event. There's wheelchair access but no dedicated loo.

Who: People doing - or not doing - the Geolympix Cyclerama Series, which passes close by. All welcome but Please include your food order (if any) in as much detail as you can with your Will Attend log. Thank you! New to caching or cache meets? You'll be made extra welcome.

Why: Because the Geolympix Programme of events was missing something for Tuesday daytime, and this seemed a lovely way to plug that hole :)

How: I suggest you cycle :D - Ample parking on site though, in this pretty village east of Thame, famous for its summer arts and craft festival and, dare I say it? Folk dancing. Yes, Morris Men have been known to roam the area...

Cycle Hire: If you'd like to do the series but can't bring a bike or bikes with you, Sustrans, who run the Phoenix Trail, suggest Risborough Cycles in Princes Risborough. They're open from 9.30 to 5pm on the day and are at the east end of the trail, meaning a 9.30 start, getting to the event around 1pm (depending on your speed!) on the return leg and easily back to them by 5pm, even if leaving the meet at 3pm. Lloyd's Bank Gardens, Duke Street, Princes Risborough, Bucks HP27 0AN (Located to the rear of Lloyds Bank) - 01844 345949. (Thanks for the log Millie!)
