Geocache Description:

The Village of Mochlos is a scenic spot right on the Aegean Sea. The small island across from the village is a Minoan archaeological settlement. It is a great spot to see some of Crete's Bronze Age history. The site is still being excavated today and one might be lucky enough to catch the archaeologists digging there during the summer season.

This geocache can be found without needing the gps on the island. The waypoint coordinates are for the dock from which one can swim over, if so inclined(this is why it is not required to bring along a gps). You must be a competent swimmer though. One can also hire a small boat to make the short journey to the island(around 5 euros per round trip). There is a small church on the island with a small stone room attached to it. The cache should be found quite close to the coordinates. Once there, please take a moment to enjoy the splendid view looking back towards the village. By all means explore the archaeological remains, but please take care not to walk on any walls or disturb the settlment in any way. And always be aware that it is illegal to remove any antiquities from the site. That said, the geocache should be easy to find, especially if you follow the hint! Have fun and remember to leave the cache exactly the way you found it.
