Geocache Description:

P&M's 50 Cache Dash is a series of fifty caches placed along a scenic route south east of Pretoria. The route runs along Rietvlei Nature Reserve for the first stretch, so be sure to do some game spotting as well as cache spotting, and then runs through some more rural and agricultural areas before heading back towards Pretoria again.

We have tried to mix things up along the way so some caches will be easy to find and others will be more difficult, the container sizes and types are not all the same and their hiding spots should hopefully also keep you guessing as you go. We placed this series as our way of saying thank you for all the fun we have had in our first year of geocaching, so we really hope that you enjoy it and have fun too!

This spot provides a picturesque view of a smallholding with a windpump. A windpump is a windmill used for pumping water, either as a source of fresh water from wells, or for draining low-lying areas of land. Once a common fixture on farms, windpumps are still used today where electric power is not available or too expensive. Windpumps are used extensively in Southern Africa, Australia, and the central plains and South West of the United States. In South Africa and Namibia thousands of windpumps are still operating. These are mostly used to provide water for human use as well as drinking water for large sheep stocks.
