Geocache Description:

"If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting!"

E. Pauline Johnson loved to visit an area in Stanley Park she called “the Cathedral Trees”. Vancouverites were more familiar with this stand of ancient Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar trees by the name “The Seven Sisters”. Unfortunately, by the middle of the 20th Century these towering giants had reached the end of their life span and their sad rotting remains were felled by the Parks Board in the 1960s, out of fear for the damage they might have caused if they were to topple in a windstorm. Today, you can still make out their stumps, and marvel at just how huge these magnificent trees were. In 1988, Stanley Park's Centennial year, seven Douglas Fir trees were planted to carry on the Sisters’ age-old guardianship over the forest.

To read more about the Cathedral Trees, look for the Pauline Johnson story called
“The Lure in Stanley Park”. I think you’ll find the tale fascinating.

Due to proximity issues, the cache is not hidden at the posted coordinates!

As you approach the starting coordinates, consider this: you are retracing centuries of footsteps of countless tens of thousands of people of all ages, races, religions, and cultures, who all made the very same pilgrimage to this Cathedral in the forest, a site many feel is far more inspiring and majestic than any of Man’s finest structures.

After you have immersed yourself in the silent grandeur of the Cathedral, follow Cathedral Trail as it winds its way towards Lost Lagoon. Here and there along the way, and on the adjacent trail as well, you will see some informative message boards that describe the how the forest is healing itself while sustaining the indigenous wildlife. They provide some interesting information.

There is no bushwhacking necessary. You need not stray from the formal pathways nor take any shortcuts to reach GZ. However, should you decide to ignore this advice and head off into the bush, beware The Lure, for if you find that barren, cursed stone instead of the cache, you may be lost forever!

Please rehide the cache in the same manner you found it and, as always, remember to keep thinking Deep Thoughts!
