A pleasant walk near Widecombe-in-the-Moor along part of the Two Moors Way along Hamel Down with most stunning 360° views. Can be approached from parking near Grimspound [the most famous of Dartmoor ancient settlements] or from the carpark N of Wind Tor. Along the well-defined footpath along the ridge there is a line of 4 inscribed stones put up at the instigation of the Duke of Somerset which mark the boundary of Natsworthy, all marked on the OS map.
This is one of my favourite walks which I seem to do quite often in the spring when the weather is improving and tempting me to “get out on the moor again”. Consequently I often hear the cuckoo(s) calling - and at other times I can hear the bells ringing from Widecombe church, a tower I must visit to ring (another hobby!).
This is a hybrid geocache so contains a stamp - so don’t forget to bring an inkpad and paper/card/book to take a copy. Please note however the stamp is NOT to be removed.
