Geocache Description:

Hyke around Hykeham

This event will be held in and around the church hall of the North Hykeham Methodist Church, Chapel Lane, North Hykeham, LINCOLN, LN6 9QZ on the 8th September 2012, 12 midday to 4pm. Bring a picnic to this event and meet up with old friends and make new ones too. It is suitable for all; young, old, families and couples.
There is ample, free, off road parking on one side of the church hall and a grassy area on the other side which is ideal for picnics (don’t worry; it’s not a grave yard!). This grassy area leads to the local park where an overspill of picnickers can locate as well as children wanting to burn off some energy.
The church hall is close to local amenities and for those who don’t want to picnic, there are shops, takeaways and cafes nearby to obtain sustenance! The Amasons and The Hartsholme Explorers will provide tea, coffee and squash to quench your thirst.
There are a number of caches in Hykeham and in the surrounding countryside if you fancy a short hike (Hyke – get it?). It is hoped to publish several more to coincide with this event. FTF for the event will be drawn from the obligatory canister, so bring a card with your caching name on it. This draw will take place at 2pm.
There will be a raffle, the start of a TB race, a free face painting challenge for the kids, and Rob, a local geocaching supplier, will have a stall. The raffle will be drawn at 3.30pm and due to the size of some of the prizes, you will need to be present to claim them. If you aren’t there, the raffle will be drawn again until someone does.
There will also be a few Travel Bugs and Geocoins to discover. Feel free to bring yours with you. The event closes at 4pm but feel free to join us afterwards for a pint at the local hostelry.
