Geocache Description:

The cache is in Little Bendysh Wood, an ancient woodland now owned by the Forestry Commission. At one time the woodland was reforested with conifers. There has recently been a programme of “de-coniferisation”. Everywhere you go you will see partial clearings and extraction lanes.

The woodlands are rich in wildflowers. Look out for Bluebells, Hairy St Johns Wort, Hairy Woodrush, Meadowsweet, Orchids, Oxlip , Ragged Robin, Wood Anemone. Keep an eye open for deer. Their slots are easily seen along the rides. Please try to avoid disturbing the pheasants by keeping dogs on leads. There are feeding stations all around the wood. The recommended parking is off the road just south of Swan’s Farm but there are other footpaths which lead into the Bendysh woodlands. The cache is a 500ml lock-n-lock box placed in accordance with the GAGB / Forestry Commission Agreement.
