While heading downhill from Near Point, burtonsinak and I couldn't keep up with davidaknz and fuzzybelly, so we decided to place this cache. Boy, did we find a good spot for this one, and we think it will be a fun hunt.
As you approach Near Point, there will be a fork in the trail. The trail to the right is dryer and steeper, but will be a more direct route to Berry Haven (GC17Q8C) and the top. The trail to the left is soggier, has some switchbacks, and will be a more direct route to this cache. This is bear country, especially in the late summer/fall when they will be feasting on the berries.
The closest parking is at Basher Trailhead and does not have any parking fees. Parking elsewhere may have parking fees (exempt with state park pass).
