Welcome to my newest series of caches. In each of these “Reading is FUN” series, the premise will be the same: solve the puzzle to discover the coordinates to the hidden cache. They will start out easy and the caches will be accordingly small, however, the difficulty (and cache size) will be stepped up over the run of the series and the final cache may or may not require clues gleaned from all the previous puzzles / caches.
HERE IS YOUR TASK, (should you decide to accept it):
A. Find the coordinates for the hidden cache by first reading every book in the series referred to by the clues on this page; (just kidding), it will not be necessary to own, or even have read any of the books in this series.
HOWEVER, I would hope...
1.) You may have already read all/most/some/any of these books.
2.) If you are totally unfamiliar with these books, maybe this will encourage you to read them for the first time.
or
3.) At the very least, to make you more familiar with the archaic art of the written word in print. What a concept!
B. Solve the PUZZLE from the clues given on this page, in particular, below this diatribe.
C. Find the cache.
D. Sign the log.
E. Log your visit.
F. Enjoy a greater appreciation of the world around you, through fine literature.
OK, finally, here’s the clue:
To find the first thing that is hidden, you will be required to enter into the Forbidden Forest. The question is where?
Suddenly a Great White Owl swoops down and drops an envelope at your feet. Inside is a cryptic message. You show it to Hermione. She suggests you visit the 3rd floor of the Hogwarts Library; the "Restricted Section." Let's just hope Filch does not catch you.
Here is the entire contents of the cryptic message:
2.71.13.2 6.416.25.11 2.3.20.4 4.179.29.9 3.396.5.8 1.130.8.2 4.734.11.9 5.410.3.3 5.411.22.11 2.66.23.9 4.352.3.6 2.71.13.2 7.203.20.2 4.191.19.3 4.372.20.13 1.165.1.3 4.179.29.9 1.45.11.14 4.25.18.11 7.375.5.2 5.426.27.4 4.352.19.2 4.191.19.3
CAUTION . . . DO NOT venture beyond the omnious words "Do Not Cross" but stop and sit for a spell; allowing the broken stone bird-bath to amuse you.
