Geocache Description:

You are cordially invited to a Geocaching event, to be held at the Viaduct Inn near Cork, just under the Chetwynd Viaduct on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 28th July 2012.

This is an informal, family friendly get together for Geocachers both seasoned and new to get to know each other from both the local area and further afield.

The event will start at 6.00 p.m. and go on as long as anyone wants it to or to closing time, whichever arrives first. The bar is family friendly until 9pm when children are no longer allowed. The time has also been arranged to allow for some local caching for those wishing to do so while there is still daylight.

There is a good menu of pub food available and will be served until approximately 8:30pm.

I have arranged for us to have our own area in the pub area.  We will be able to order food and drink to be consumed in this area (see menu)- there is also a large restaurant/carvery as part of the location should people feel more adventurous.

The venue is conveniently located just south of the Cork's Southern Ring Road (N25) on the N70 road that heads out to South West County Cork. There is ample parking right next to the venue.

The evening will be an opportunity to help Travel Bugs and Geocoins on their way, especially if anyone is off to an exotic destination in the near future. If you intend to bring a TB or two, please try to include details of the Bug and its objective in your attendance note, by dropping it into this event cache's inventory prior to attending (you can also do this closer to the event date by writing an additional "note".

There will also be an area where personal travel bugs/Geocoins can be placed for discovery. Here you will have the opportunity for others to see and discover your trackable, safe in the knowledge that people won't mistakenly take them at the end of the evening to be placed in a cache.

My first event at the end of February in the Cork area was an amazing opportunity for me to meet new cachers as I'd only just then moved from Swansea to live in Cork.  If you're new to caching or are a regular on the scene, an event like this is an excellent informal way of meeting the names you see on cache logs.

Please note that if you're travelling from a distance and are in need of accomodation, despite it's name, the Viaduct Inn has no on-site accomodation.
