PARQUE FLORESTAL DO CHÃO DOS LOUROS
O Parque Florestal do Chão dos Louros tem esta designação devido a ser um núcleo de loureiros (Laurus novocanariensis) árvore da família das lauráceas.
O Chão dos Louros está localizado na floresta laurisilva do til e do vinhático (classificada como património natural mundial pela UNESCO) e portanto na área envolvente do parque podem ser encontradas as espécies que vivem neste tipo de floresta.
The Chão dos Louros Park Forest has this designation because it is a core of laurel trees (Laurus novocanariensis) a tree that belongs to the family of the Lauraceae. Chão dos Louros is located in the laurisilva forest (classified as a natural world heritage by UNESCO) and therefore the species that live in this type of forest can be found in the area surrounding the park.
Nos loureiros do Chão dos Louros, vive uma espécie de fungo designado popularmente por Madre Louro, utilizada na medicina popular da região.
In the Laurels in Chão dos Louros, lives a species of fungi popularly known as Madre Louro, used in popular medicine in the region.
Culturalmente este Parque Florestal, tal como outros na ilha, tem uma grande tradição popular, pois não só os locais mas também pessoas de toda a região, frequentemente fazem os seus piqueniques e festas populares lá.
Culturally this Forest Park, as many others in the island, has a great popular tradition, because not only the locals but also people throughout the region often make their picnics and festivals there.

Todos os anos este espaço enche-se de Romeiros e não só, que aproveitam o regresso do arraial do Senhor Bom Jesus em Ponta Delgada, no 1º Domingo de Setembro, para realizar um convívio saudável entre todos.
According to the tradition the first Monday after the popular party in Ponta Delgada is the day to go to Chão dos Louros. Every year this place fills with Pilgrims that return from the Bom Jesus popular party held in the village of Ponta Delgada, on the 1st Sunday of September, to sing, dance, eat and play, creating a healthy interaction between them.
MÚSICA TRADICIONAL DA MADEIRA
Na Madeira podemos encontrar várias influências culturais não só do continente europeu, mas também de África.
In Madeira we can find several cultural influences not only from Europe but also from Africa.
Nos idos de quinhentos, muitos foram os escravos negros, mouros e canarianos (guanches) que passaram passaram pela Madeira, chegando a contabilizar cerca de 10% da população residente, maioritariamente composta de gente emigrada do Minho (norte da ilha), Alentejo e Algarve (costa sul da ilha).
Back in five hundred, many were the black slaves, Moors and Canarians (Guanches) who have passed through Madeira, reaching approximately 10% of the population, mostly composed of people emigrated from the Minho (north of the island), Alentejo and Algarve (south coast).
As crónicas antigas dão conta de grandes romarias religiosas e festas pagãs em que os "muitos instrumentos de violas, guitarras, frautas, rabis e gaitas de fole" se juntavam a uma trovoaria de tambores e bombos. Infelizmente, quer os rabis (instrumentos de origem árabe) e as gaitas de fole (trazidas do Noroeste da Península Ibérica) se perderam no cumular dos tempos, estando agora extintas na memória do povo.
The ancient chronicles give account of great pagan festivals and religious processions in which "many instruments: violas, guitars, frautas, rabbis and bagpipes" joined a strong sound of drums and bass drums. Unfortunately, both the rabbis (instruments of Arab origin) and the bagpipes (brought from the Northwest Iberian Peninsula) were lost in the cumulate of time and are now extinct in the memory of the people.
O bailinho, o charamba e a mourisca são as formas musicais mais conhecidas da Madeira. A chamarrita é outra forma musical característica da Madeira, embora também exista nos Açores. Outros géneros musicais de grande importância são as associadas ao trabalho agrícola e religioso. Em certas localidades conserva-se a prática dos jogos cantados ao despique.
The "bailinho", the "charamba" and the "mourisca" are the most popular musical forms in Madeira. The "chamarrita" is another musical form characteristic of Madeira, though it also exists in the Azores. Other genres of great importance are those associated with agricultural work and religion. Certain localities still perserve singing the "despique" - a challenging and sometimes spicy competition between two or more singers.

Esta cache encontra-se ao longo do PR 22 - Vereda do Chão dos Louros que circunda o Parque Florestal, lugar onde é frequente encontrar grupos de romeiros a tocar os instrumentos e canções tradicionais da Madeira.
This cache is located along the PR 22 - Chão dos Louros Footpath that surrounds the Forest Park, where it is frequent to find groups of pilgrims playing traditional instruments and songs of Madeira.
A cache divide-se em 3 stages e ao longo do percurso serás acompanhado por um belo concerto proporcionado pelo chilrear das aves que habitualmente se encontram nesta área.
Nas duas primeiras stages encontrarás um container com uma música tradicional madeirense.
