Geocache Description:

Church Micro 2788...Toddington

This cache has been placed to bring you to St George's Church, Toddington.

The cache is a screw top plastic container about the height of a 35mm film pot, but with a smaller diameter. It only contains a log - you are a geocacher, you should have a writing implement!

Please note that the final cache is located outside the churchyard and is NOT accessible from inside the churchyard.

St George's sits in the centre of Toddington, next to the village green. The ground on which the church stands had been granted to the Benedictine Abbey of La Coutre Le Mans on a life lease by Roger Peyvre between 1100 -1122, so it is certain that there was a building here in Saxon times.

The church is a Gothic structure, ornamented with grotesque sculptures of various animals. The interior contains monuments to the Cheney and Wentworth families; among them is one to Henrietta, Baroness Wentworth, who is said to have died of grief, a few months after the execution of James, Duke of Monmouth, to whom she bad been betrothed, and another to Lady Maria Wentworth.

Please take time to explore the peace and tranquility, but please be respectful in the church and its grounds.

To find the location of the final cache, there are two methods.
Method 1:you will first need to find the doors within the northern porch. Due to the outer glass doors, it may not be possible to gain the information during hours of darkness. The door has A hinges, each of which splits in to B prongs at the left hand end. The keyhole plate is secured by C screws and the door handle above it is secured by D screws.

The final cache can be found at North 51° 56.9(D+A-B)D West 000° 31.9B(C+6)

method 2: The porch door has a T shaped bracket with W silver headed studs (ignore any studs near but not in/on the bracket). The south doors have an upper row of X diamond shaped headed bolts. Count carefully as some are obscured from a distance by the brickwork. Including the porch, the church has Y sets of external double doors. Near the porch is a living memorial to FOS. The last word has Z letters. The final cache can then be found at: N 51° 56.9WX W 000° 31.9YZ

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
