Geocache Description:

One of the best viewpoints of the Derwent Dam. It is particularily impressive when the reservoir is full.

Points of interest include:
  • To the left, the twin pipelines taking water from the Derwent and Howden reservoirs to Bamford water treatment works, and then on to Derby and Nottingham.
  • Just to the right of the western tower, the outflow from the Ashop Diversion, which takes water from the River Ashop at SK140894 and delivers it via a tunnel under Hagg Side.
  • To the right of the outflow, several pillars that held the railway that delivered materials used to build the dams.

NOTE that the cache is NOT in the wall, but next to it on the dam side.
