Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Icelandic Filming Location Geotrail. It is hidden at one of the filming locations of Batman Begins from 2005.

Batman is of corse one of the most famous superheroes, and has been depicted in many films. Tim Burtons version from 1989 revolutionized superhero movies with it's stile and quality. And again in 2005 a Batman movie changed hollywood, this time it was Christopher Nolan with his vision of a more realistic and dark Batman, that was Batman Begins. And what would be a critically acclaimed and box office hit trilogy with The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. The scenes that were filmed in Iceland served as Burma in the Himalaya in Batman Begins, as Bruce Wayne joins the League of Shadows, led by Ra's al Ghul. A small village was built here that Bruce Wayne walks trough. The monastery of Ra's al Ghul was digitally added to shots of the area. A scene where Ra's al Ghul was teaching Bruce Wayne about fighting was filmed on the frozen lagoon at the end of the glazier that you can see from the parking area.

Christopher Nolan returned here in september 2013 to film his Interstellar.

Cache at your own risk. You will have to do a short but somewhat difficult hike. As you can read on the sign at the parking area, this location can be dangerous, especially if you go on to the glacier. But you don't have to go on the glacier to find this cache.

If you like this geotrail, why not like it on facebook as well /IFLgeotrail

Please be careful when hiding the box not to put to many rocks on top of it or it will break easily.

UPDATE, may 2014: Since this cache was hidden 2 years ago the glacier has retreated considerably. I just feel it's amazing to witness the change of the climate. You can see where the plant line on the other side ends, that's how far the glacier got, just a few years ago. Just wanted to share that with you.
