Hare Tor is one of the largest and most impressive tors on Dartmoor.
It lies on the western side of North Dartmoor. The tor sits inside the Willsworthy Military Firing Range and has a military flag pole on its summit. There are some amazing views from the summit over West Devon and East Cornwall.
The tor is reasonably easy to get to albeit rather hilly terrain, I prefer to walk from Lane End Car Park N50° 37.323 W 004° 04.154 walking up the track via Ger Tor N 50° 37.781 W 004° 03.349 and Tavy Cleave Tors N 50° 37.931 W 004° 02.766 then on the Hare Tor N 50° 38.374 W 004° 03.044.
You can also walk from Willsworthy car park N 50° 37.920 W 004° 05.830 beside the A386, through the firing range and follow the track as far as it goes but then its rather a steep rough climb up to the summit of the tor.
When walking from either direction you must check the Dartmoor Firing Notice for the Willsworthy Range on the following website: http://www.dartmoor-ranges.co.uk/firing_notice_1.html
The cache has been placed within sight of Hare Tor hence the title!
