ACD 9: Long Jump In 1968 Bob Beamon not only broke the record he smashed it by a full 55cm which is statistically a greater feat than anything Usain Bolt has acheived. 6of the top 7 all time jumpers are from the USA. This cache is a puzzle as the cache is actually the distance of the mens world record from these coords. Pause for thought ----------------- Iván Pedroso had his world record jump of 8.96 cancelled because the video tape showed someone standing in front of the wind gauge. ---------------- The decathlon is a combined event requiring athletes to run, jump and throw their way through 10 separate events gaining points towards their final total. The winner is traditionally called the "World's Greatest Athlete" - so perhaps we should call the FTF of the final bonus in this series the "World's Greatest Cacher". As with the athletic decathlon, this series will take you through 10 testing events (set on a 3 mile circuit of footpaths) with a further "award ceremony" at the end. As you'd expect with an Olympic event, the going will not always be easy. There will be some tough moments as well as the triumphs. But you know what they say: when the going gets tough, the tough sit down and get out the flask of coffee. So, if you're up for the challenge, the starting pistol is about to fire so make your way to the start line. Please note: to obtain the coordinates for the final bonus cache you will need to find the answers to 10 trivia questions related to the Olympics as well as collect some information from the other caches as you go round.
