Geocache Description:

Just a micro in case you are passing! Parking at cache. THERE IS A LETTERBOX NEARER TO THE TRIG PILLAR - THIS IS NOT THE GEOCACHE!! If cachers names are not on the cache log, I will delete their "Found It" when I check the cache log.

It is well worth walking along the foot path to the Iron Age hill fort Cranbrook Castle which covers an area of 7 acres, mostly covered with bluebells in May and heath spotted orchids in June. From the castle there are wonderful views across the Teign gorge of 2 other Iron Age castles [Prestonbury to the NNE and Wooston NE, although the latter is surrounded by trees], and Castle Drogo which is England’s most recently built castle can be seen to the NW. Excavations in 1900 of Cranbrook Castle revealed fragments of characteristic Iron Age pottery and sling-stones.
