Beskrivelsen i denne cache er på engelsk av hensyn til internasjonale reisende.

D/T-rating: Summertime 1.5 / 1.5 - Wintertime 2 / 3

The title "I feel the need ... the need for speed" is a quote from one of my all time favourite movies featuring F-14 Tomcats and F-5 Freedom Fighters (the latter starring as MIG-28s in the movie) - you probably guessed the title already.

This series of caches is a tribute to all the airports around the world.

Runway 19R from close to the cache hide

From Gardermoen Airport take the free shuttle bus to Parking P4 - a 5-10 minute drive. From there you have around 800-900 meters to the cache. Please take into account the potential waiting times for the shuttle busses.

Take the opportunity to enjoy the area by walking on the official cultural path ("Kultursti" in Norwegian) which is marked by signs found near the cache and at the same time enjoy the planes taking off or landing right over your head.

GARDERMOEN AIRPORT
The airport is placed in an old military area which used belong to the cavalry. During 2nd World War the Germans expanded the area to a military airport. After WWII the Norwegian Airforce took over the airport - being the home of the 355th squadron.
Gradually more and more traffic was directed to Gardermoen Airport from Fornebu Airport which at the time was the main airport of Norway but had run into capacity problems and couldn't be expanded.
Gardermoen Airport was inaugurated in October 8th, 1998 - as Norway's main airport.
