Another lonely cache in the Mon Forest!
This started out to be a hike to the now gone 'Ramp Heaven' cache. Maybe we could find the old cache, but more likely just find some ramps. Since 2006, when the original cache was placed, trails have grown over or disappeared entirely. "Let's try a different way in". The more we walked, the distance to the cache remained the same. Was this a Coalcat cache? Fortunately, we found the ramps, lots of ramps! And we just happened to have an ammo can with some goodies inside. New cache. New location. But still Ramp Heaven! Park at coordinates and start up the Forest Rd. Turn onto an old logging road. Almost level walk from there. The logging road ends at a stream as it disappears underground. A short distance away, another stream pops out of the ground. 1 1/4 mile hike to the cache. Trails, logging roads, will get you to within 100'of the cache It is legal to dig up ramps for personnel use only, in the National Forest.
