The cache is situated on the top of Kofinas in the Asterousia-Mountains, South Crete. It is only available for trained mountaineers. Its altitude in literature differs.
Using a 4x4-Wheel-Drive-Car you can shorten the way from Kapetaniana to WP 1.
In summer you will need plenty of water to survive!
Attention: Google-Earth coordinates do not agree with the real GPS-coordinates. Compare: http://www.gps-forum.net/google-earth-um-500-meter-daneben-t5880.html
The given coordinates are Waypoint 1 (Parking)
It can be reached from Kapetaniana by foot (5,5 kms) on a dust road, follow the signs to Moni Koudouma. Going by car to WP 1 from Kapetaniana is only possible with 4X4 WD-car (April 2012). You can reach WP 1 as well from Sternes on a steep and dust road. (Turn right after 8 kms and follow the sign to Kapetaniana)
From WP 1 you follow the way southwards.
You will get the coordinates of the Final as follows:
N 34° 57.U' E 025° 04.XYZ'
U = (Altitude Kofinas given at WP 4 - 1000)*3
control: U can be divided by 11
X = Frequency of A in the bronze inscription
Y = Frequency of T in the bronze inscription
Z = Number of letters of the town in the bronze inscription
control: X+ Y + Z = 15
From WP 1 to the top of Kofinas you will need about 1 hour.
If you want to hike from Kapetaniana to the top of Kofinas and back, maybe you will need about 5 hours. To go up the Kofinas use the pathway! No climbing!
