What is the Wandoo Series?

The Wandoo series is Power Trail which will take you into the countryside East of Perth. Is a chance to do a large quantity of caches in a short period of time. It has been put together by 4 cachers from the Southern Suburbs of Perth.

Allied Oz, Allied Prankster, Chwiliwr and Keego_and_Chil

Each team has hidden their caches on a specific section of the Power Trail and have specific names eg, birds minerals etc... for example "Wandoo Black Swan"

Distance?

The Wandoo series covers approximately 300 Kilometres over sealed roads and gravel tracks, all roads are 2WD accessible.

Difficulty Level?

Most are drive up and a quick search, nothing higher than a D2, there are no real nasty hides but there will be some camos and occasional clever hide.

Please take the time to rehide the cache as you found it.

Final Cache

There is a bonus cache to be found. Collect the required information, clues are scattered along the Wandoo series, only certain caches are required. The Bonus cache is a 100 litre container.

Logging your finds

Please bring a writing impliment and a log removal tool just in case. Record your team name and date. As space is crucial, please do not leave calling cards, no stamps and no stickers. A record sheet for each section has been provided to help with the recording of the caches in the field, so that you can log them later. Copy and paste logs are OK but on the final please post a record of your attempt.

Safety

If done in order, from Brookton Highway most caches have been placed on the left hand side of the road and have a safe place to pull over. Please be careful when on these roads, gravel roads can be tricky, it is better to get there a little later than not at all. It is not a race!

Telephone Coverage

Mobile coverage is unreliable in most of the areas, so a GPS should be a must .

Maintenance

As you can appreciate there are a large amount of caches, please post a maintenance log and report any maintenance issues that can not be fixed by yourself to the Cache Owners as soon as possible.

What is Wandoo?

Eucalyptus wandoo (Wandoo, White Gum) is a medium-sized tree widely distributed in southwest Western Australia. It grows as a small to medium-sized tree up to 25 metres in height. It has smooth bark, often in mottled patches of white, light grey, light brown light yellow and pink. Old layers of bark come of in flakes, and it is not uncommon for a few flakes to persist on the trunk for a long time. Young stems may be round or square in cross-section. Adult leaves are usually a greyish-green or greyish-blue, the same on both sides, lanceolate, 7.5 to 12.5 centimetres long, 1 to 2.8 centimetres wide, on a petiole one to two centimetres long. Flowers are white, and occur in clusters of 9 to 17.
