Geocache Description:

A small cache slightly smaller than a film cannister located in Newington Gardens public park. Although not paved at the cache location it is only 8m from paved area, so I think its wheelchair accessible.

The park occupies the site where Horsemonger Lane Gaol was located for almost a century from 1791. This was once the largest prison in the county of Surrey.

That same year saw the birth in Newington of Michael Faraday, who went on to become a pioneer in chemistry and electrophysics.

The park was known locally as "Jail Park" up to the mid 1960s.
The game courts in the park are regularly used by the London Hardcourt Bicycle Polo Association for casual games and tournaments.
