Geocache Description:

A micro cache situated nearby to St. James Church.

Can be done as a single cache - or part of my CCC circuit.

NOTE - Some stealth may be required to retrieve the cache as this can be a busy area at times so I've given a detailed hint if you need it.

The church of St. James Clanfield was built in 1878 when the previous 14th century church was pulled down. A watercolour of the old church can be seen inside on the North wall.

The current church was built on the foundation stones of the old - and the bells, font and west window were all retained. The cost of this 'modernisation' - £1466-6s-0d.

The bells now form part of the church's most striking feature - a rather unusual double open bellcote; and again unusually the bells are hung with wheels and fittings for full-circle change ringing which you would normally only see inside a belfry.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list

You will need to collect the following information to calculate the cache coordinates:

The number of bells in the bellcote: A

The postbox opposite has the reference PO8 ___
The sum of the digits in the second part: B

Some gravestones stand against the West end of the church:
