Geocache Description:

A relatively easy find although trees can make navigation tricky. No stickoflage here! You are looking for a 450ml klipfresh container with a few goodies and TB. There is a small lay by sufficient for 2 cars. A few muggles about between 12:00 and 14:00 out walking from nearby offices, otherwise quiet. Placed with kind permission from the Army Golf Club.

The cache is hidden in an area known as "Bagman Castle." Bagman Castle was traditionally considered a highwayman's hideout (a group of cottages that no longer exist) back in the days when this was heathland and the Farnborough road was very different to the dual carriageway that is there now. It is believed that Dick Turpin was active here. The house opposite the cache, Blandford House, was the official residence of the General Officer Commanding Aldershot District until 1950. A few yards along from the lay by on the opposite side of the road, you will notice an old sign hanging at the edge of a small plantation. The remnants of a frame for a similar sign is right next to the lay by. This plantation was planted in 1965 and was named after Edmund R Speak although the plantation sign does not carry his name. Either side of Shoe Lane is the Army Golf course. Up towards the top of Shoe Lane (business park end) on the east side by one of the golf tees, you will see a small fenced enclosure which is a military horse cemetery containing 5 memorial stones dated from 1880 to 1899 dedicated to famous horses.
