parc chwarel Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

mpw246pl: Unfortunately this is going to be archived. The tree is now nothing more than a pile of wood chips. No where else suitable for a similar cache.

Thanks to HoD, Muzza and Mr S Vimes for the heads up.

Geocache Description:

This was placed with my children in tow, who were most excited in getting 'another one out there'!

Quarry Park is a place I pass frequently and is situated at the busy interchange of the A217 & A232 and offers those out and about a place to rest.

The site was formerly part of Chalk Pit Field in East Cheam Manor Estate in c.1750. Quarry Park was laid out as a public park after the death in 1932 of Mrs Seears of Quarry Rise, but is probably little changed from the time of the Seears' ownership. The 1st edition OS Map of 1867 shows the quarry but no house or gardens to the north bordering Love Lane.

There is no indication that this park is secured after dusk, however there is a gate, which sometimes is pulled to, but I have yet to see it padlock/chained etc (if found locked please email me & I will change the cache details).

It is a small park area, that has a metre wide tarmac path around its circumference, with a couple of benches only. This makes this cache partly wheelchair friendly, although you will need someone else to make the grab for you.

Please make sure that you replace the cache exactly as you find it - it's been placed specifically not haphazard.

A good degree of stealth is required (unless you have eyes in the back of your head!) as the park is very open to the main roads & bus stop.
