Geocache Description:

We thought to offer visitors and locals alike, a few caches at historical sites within an easy walking tour or alternatively a bus tour.

This is not a Multi- cache. Each cache stands alone.

The Hop On – Hop Off Red City Bus Tour stops near all the mentioned buildings. This is Stop 7

At the 'top' of the Gardens is the famous Mount Nelson Hotel. Built in 1899 and emulating the finest in London. The first travellers were from Europe’s High Society who were enjoying ‘exploration fever’
The Boer War saw Kitchener, Buller and Roberts gathering for strategy meetings which was often covered by the young reporter Winston Churchill. 1914 at the start of world War II saw many troops in and around the hotel.
In 1925 to celebrate the Prince of Wales’ visit a new gate and palm-treed driveway constructed.
This hotel still entertains many famous visitors to Cape Town
