Beverston is a beautiful village not far from Tetbury in Gloucestershire. It has a great history, a beautiful church and a ruined castle as well (although that is private you can walk around the outside :)
A castle was erected here, in the time of Edward III., by Thomas, Lord Berkeley; was repeatedly besieged, and finally taken and burned, in the parliamentary wars; and is now a mass of ruin. Roofing-stone is quarried.
The church is in the shadow of the ruins of the castle, which has been part of a farm since late 17th C. St. Mary's consists of chancel, nave, with south aisle and north tranceptal chapel, and west tower. On the south face of the tower is mutilated sculpture of the Resurrection, probably early 11th C

The Church can be accessed through a Restricted Byway from the main road leading to a Public Footpath- you can drive up to it by the next roadalong but please watch where you park as the owners do not like people parking near on the driveway up to the castle and it is also the entrance for a farm- park just outside the church and you will soon find the footpath if you walk around the castle.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
