Geocache Description:

Ice Pan Alley is a traditional cache located near the Turnagain Arm Trail overlooking the Turnagain Arm. The views from here vary by season but one thing is common, they are always spectacular!

Although this cache was placed in the winter this would be a great spot anytime to bring a picnic, sit a bit and enjoy Alaska!

If you are headed to find only this cache, I would park in the Sunshine parking area and access the Turnagain Arm Trail via the trail from Sunshine. If you are seeking this one in winter time be careful, the trail can be a bit 'exciting'!!! Once you reach the Turnagain Arm Trail head east toward Rainbow.

Upon reaching ground zero watch your step, or you may end up on the Seward Highway!!! This is not a wintertime only warning!!!

Caching along the Turnagain Arm Trail can be challenging due to less than perfect gps reception. However, this one should not be as bad as the others in the area. Those of you who have spent some time along this trail know what I mean! The coordinates for this cache, were taken with two different Garmin GPS' and an iPhone and all were nearly the same.

The cache is a watertight cell phone dry box that measures 6 in x 1-5/8 in x 3 in.

Come visit this cache and the others in the area. There are now more than 20 caches very near the Turnagain Arm Trail between the McHugh Creek and Rainbow Trailheads. You will not be disappointed with the views and the trail!!

This cache was place under Chugach State Park Permit #12-004.
