Special thanks to sassydil for helping set this up with Douglas County, we'll be working at the Columbine Open Space. We'll be working with Open Space Volunteers to help the native vegetation and wildlife by:
~ Removing litter in the area
~ Removing invasive plant species (Mullein and Knapweeds) along the trail
WHEN?
April 27th from 10am-2pm
WHAT IS PROVIDED?
Columbine Open Space will provide:
Trash Bags
Some Shovels
Snacks
Water
Possibly lunch, depending on head count and length of stay
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING?
Yourself, ready to work!
Gloves, Sunglasses, Hat, etc...
Extra snacks or water (if needed)
Extra Shovel, if you have one
Waivers will also need to be signed and will be provided on site. Any minors will need a waiver signed by parent or guardian as well. Please RSVP so we can better plan work assignments, tools, snacks and lunch. We might plan to break at noon for a 30 minute lunch and continue afterwards for those who still have the energy.
Now is a great time to do this service, before the snakes are out and about and make this type of Event very dangerous! Many hands make light work! Also, the GCCO is sponsoring this Event and there will be a GOLD GCCO COIN in a drawing for those who come and work their fingers to the bone ;) Okay, maybe not that much... but you do gotta CITO!
Space may be limited so please only RSVP if you are sure to come. I will post more as we approach the date. I know a Friday day may be difficult but it was the best date to work with the Volunteers and it is Arbor Day, that's cool!
