About fifty years ago, Greenstead still had a village feel about it, but now it has been swallowed up by the ever growing town of Colchester. The church is Norman with a 16th century tower and a 19th century south aisle. The Norman builders re-used Roman brick, which must have been in abundance in Colchester.
I loved the fact that this Church remains intact and tucked away after all the modern develpement around. It really makes you think about how it used to be, and how much the area has changed in the last 50 years or so.
Much stealth needed here, people seem to appear out of nowhere, please replace exactly as found.
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
