Welcome to GCHR Battleship. This series consists of 106 Geocaches (100 Grid Squares, 5 Ships, and the GCHR Fleet Command Base) placed throughout the Hampton Roads area by a dedicated crew known as the GCHR Fleet Command.
This is a game of Battleship. The game board is a 10 x 10, 100 square grid (Rows A-J and Columns 1-10), download a printable game board from the gallery to track your progress. You are searching for five ships, an Aircraft Carrier, a Battleship, a Cruiser, a Submarine, and a Destroyer, each are located within the board area and are oriented either vertically or horizontally. Each requires a specific number of hits to acquire the proper clues to complete the coordinates for the location of each ship. There are a total of 17 hits needed to find all the ships.
Aircraft Carrier- 5 Hits
Battleship - 4 Hits
Cruiser - 3 Hits
Submarine - 3 Hits
Destroyer - 2Hits
All clues are color-coded and are found in the Hit containers. Be sure you have writing materials or a camera to record the clues and color-code - DO NOT REMOVE THE CLUE SHEET. Isolate the ships on the grid to collect all the required clues. There is no particular order required and once you have isolated a ship and determined its location you are free to go and "Sink" it. Miss containers will leave you with nothing more than the fun of the hunt and a smiley, well and a piece of usable information. As you log finds DO NOT indicate if the cache is a Hit or a Miss. Don’t post spoilers, and stay away from the PAFs. You want to be the Battleship Champion….don’t you?
In each of the five ship containers you will find another set of clues to lead you to the GCHR Fleet Command Base. You must "sink" all 5 ships to be able to attack the base. The first player to "destroy" the base will win the GCHR Battleship Grand Prize and hold some serious bragging rights.
