Ghost Road 1
Warning: This is a short hike, but it is in an area of steep drop offs and cliffs. It may not be suitable for young children or dogs. Unless you are a proficient rock climber, DO NOT attempt to reach the cache by a route other than that described.
The best parking is at the Parley's Crossing lot at the north end of Wasatch Boulevard. From here, hike northeast up the trail to the large radio tower. A waypoint is included for the tower. The easiest trail down to the Ghost Road starts just west of the tower fence. Please see the photo above, which shows a good route to follow. From the radio tower, follow the dirt trail down to the east (AWAY from where your GPS is pointing to the cache). Stay on DIRT and not ROCK. You can see why in the photo!
This is the first in a series of 4 caches which follow the old highway up Parley's Canyon. You can read some of the history of the highway here. It is quite an interesting walk and very level after you make the descent from the radio tower.
This first cache is beyond the west end of the Ghost Road in an area quite popular with rock climbers. From here, head east to Ghost Road 2 and in about 400 feet you will be walking on the old highway itself.
