Anemonia Sulcata
[PT]Como devem imaginar pela localização da cache (e o nome também ajuda), Anemonia Sulcata é o nome científico da Anémona do Mar, um lindo ser vivo dos oceanos...
Lembro-me perfeitamente que um dia numa visita de estudo fomos a um museu sobre a fauna e flora oceânica com alguns exemplos de animais ao vivo (não confundir com oceanário) e eu acabei por fazer um trabalho sobre estas belas criaturas.
As Anémonas ficaram também muito conhecidas depois do filme À Procura de Nemo que demonstra outra das suas características importantes e muito conhecidas - a sua cumplicidade com os peixes-palhaço.
[EN] You probably have already figured out by this cache´s location (and the name also helps) that Anemonia Sulcata is the sienctific name of the Sea Anemone, a beautifull creature from all the oceans and seas...
I remember perfectly that one day, on a field trip to a museum of oceanic fauna and flora with some examples of living animals (do not confuse with an oceanary), I ended up by doing an essay about this beautiful specime.
The Anemone got realy famous after the movie Nemo that also showed an important charachteristic about them: the friendship between anemones and clown-fish.
Anémona
[PT] Como devem imaginar, esta cache não é só um tributo às Anémonas do Mar, mas especialmente ao grande monumento que marca a cidade de Matosinhos.
A anémona foi concebida por uma escultora americana de nome Janet Echelman. Sendo Matosinhos uma cidade de pescadores, a Anémona, em homenagem a estes grandes homens, tem a forma de uma enorme rede de pesca vermelha.
O anel que suspende a rede tem um diâmetro de 42 metros e é suportado por três mastros entre os quais o maior atinge 57 metros de altura.
[EN] As you must imagine this cache isn´t just a tribute to the Sea Anemone, but also to the giant monument that is a reference in the city of Matosinhos.
The Anemone was designed by the american sculptor Janet Echelman. Since Matosinhos is a city of fishermen, the Anemone is shapped like a beautiful giant red fishing net.
The ring that holds the net has 42 meters of diameter and is suported by three masts, the biggest of them reaches 57 meters of hight.
