Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Highlands Hammock State Park. NOTE: There is an entrance fee of $4/car to enter this park. Local cachers will be aware that the hurricanes which hit Florida in August and September 04 caused a great deal of tree damage in this park. As of December 04, the trail to the cache is clear, but there are a few more fallen branches/logs around the cache site than there were before. There is also a lot more sunlight hitting the forest floor than there was--there could be a lot of underbrush here in a year or two! But for now the degree of difficulty seems about right. The cache is hidden off of a loop trail called the "Ancient Hammock Trail," which has a lot of cool, big old trees along it. There are also a lot of wild citrus trees along the path. Follow the entrance road to the parking area for the Ancient Hammock Trail, then follow your GPS. We were getting pretty good reads on our GPS, despite being under the tree canopy. The ranger will give you a map when you pay your admission fee to get into the park. This cache is hidden in a clear Tupperware container with a white top. Be careful for insects and other critters when you approach the cache site; you're in a wilderness!!! The cache has a theme of racing in honor of the nearby Sebring Race Course. Cache contents are: 6 Hot Wheels cars 1 bottle of Coke in Sebring commemorative bottle 1 plastic alligator 1 orange bouncy ball 1 log book and pen Please make sure the cache is hidden when you return it to its spot. Thanks!!
