Mega Camping 2012: The Mega Rodeo Event Cache

When?

Camping is open for 11 nights from Friday August 3rd 2012 until Monday 13th August 2012.
Those not staying with us are welcome to attend on the evening of Friday 10th August 2012 for an evening of fun and games at the “Mega Rodeo”.
Although optional, it would be really good to see as many as possible turning up at the Rodeo dressed as cowboys and cowgirls!

Rodeo Night kicks off at 4pm, finishing at 10pm.
Food served 7pm onwards.

Where?

Cartmel Park, located just to the south of Cartmel Racecourse.

Vehicle access to both aspects of the event, camping, and the Friday evening event, is just south of the village.
Parking is free at the camp site, but there is a public Pay and Display car park next to the racecourse as well.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH THE VILLAGE SQUARE TO THE EVENT. THE VILLAGE ROADS ARE VERY NARROW AND WILL NOT HANDLE THE VOLUME OF TRAFFIC OUR EVENT WILL GENERATE.

Use postcode LA11 7SE which will take you to the vehicle entrance.
The event will be signposted by Yellow AA Road Signs.

Who?

A large number of North West Mega organisers will be on-site, and will be happy to help with any questions you will have about all the various supporting events we are running throughout the week.
The main organisers of the Camping Event are Steve (Madyokel), Andy (Walker-Clan), and Jamie (Jaz666).
For the Friday night Rodeo, your hosts are Bob and Lolly (Lollybob).

What's on...

Throughout the week, as well as our extensive range of supporting events around the area, we hope to have a few activities running to keep the young'uns entertained.

On Friday night, we have lined up lots of fun and games.
This rodeo will be as busy or as relaxed as each person wants it to be. For those wishing to take it easy, chat to other geocachers and watch the activities during the evening, we recommend bringing your own fold up chair (labelled with your team name!). Hot food will be available, and we have arranged a beer tent to quench everyone’s thirsts!

Rodeo Hotpot Booking

You can now book your food tickets for the Friday night Rodeo Hotpot. The cost is £5 per head, payable on the night.
If you don't pre-book a ticket, we cannot promise there will be enough food to go around.

More Information

Cartmel Park is not an established Camp Site, so our event will be a "rally camp". Some basic facilities are on-site, all the rest we are bringing in ourselves, including toilet and shower blocks (suitable for those with disabilities).

Mobile Internet coverage is patchy in the Lake District, so if you use a device that needs a constant connection to work, like a smartphone, for car navigation or for Geocaching, it would be wise to investigate how your device will work when outside of coverage.
One of the deciding factors in choosing Cartmel Park for camping was the presence of a mobile mast just a short distance away.
We've found you get a reasonable 3G connection on most networks.

Pitch Booking

The base price for a pitch (parking of one car included) is £18 per night. This is the price set by the landowners, with a little bit on top to cover the costs of bringing in the extra toilets and showers.
We have decided not to charge extra for large families, as we want to keep the price under the average for other camp-sites in the area.

When using our booking system, please ensure you are selecting dates in August :)
We would appreciate if everyone could book their pitch sooner, rather than leaving it until the last minute. Early booking will help us by making essential funds available to us, allowing us to book facilities to suit.

• Sunday 29th July for UK attendees

Hookup Pitches are £6 extra per night, payment will be taken in cash upon arrival
