There are 12 ancient olive trees all over Crete, considered monuments of nature and protected. But if you wander across olive groves, you will see hundreds of old olive trees, real pieces of art, which are part of the Cretan history and culture.
This olive tree with its incredible huge perimeter dates back to the Sub-Minoan First Geometric period, produces big olives and has got a big cavity in its trunk, where three people can fit in.
You may leave your car at waypoint P1 at the paved road to get to the cache area by foot within 10 minutes. In a 4x4-car you may reach P2, but we recommend to enjoy walking.
From the posted coordinates go just 50 meters down through the olive groves to reach the Ancient Olive Tree.
If the age of the tree is less than 2000 years, X=322.
If the age is more than 2000 years, X=405.
If the perimeter at a height of 80 cm from the ground is more than 7 meters, Y=276.
If the perimeter is less than 7 meters, Y=312.
