Zweimal im Jahr findet auf der Erde eine Sonnenwende statt, eine im Sommer und eine im Winter. Zur Sommersonnenwende erreicht die Sonne an Orten nördlich des nördlichen Wendekreises ihren mittäglichen Höchststand über dem Horizont. An diesem Tag - meist der 21. Juni - kehrt sie dabei ihren jahreszeitlichen Lauf am Himmel um. Weil die Sonne die größtmögliche nördliche Deklination (Abstand vom Himmelsäquator) erreicht sind die Tage um die Sonnenwende die längsten und die Nächte die kürzesten.

Dieser wichtige Zeitpunkt wird in vielen Kulturen gefeiert. Vor allem im skandinavischen und baltischen Raum sind die Sonnenwendfeste nach Weihnachten zum Teil der
zweitwichtigste Feiertag des Jahres.
Die Sommersonnenwende 2012 findet um genau 1:09 MESZ am 21. Juni statt. Die Nacht vom 20. auf den 21. Juni 2012 ist somit die kürzeste des Jahres. Deshalb treffen wir uns
am 20. Juni um 21:00 auf dem Feldbergplateau, um diesen Zeitpunkt zu feiern, der den Beginn des Sommers markiert. Ab jetzt werden die Tage zwar schon wieder küzer, es beginnt jedoch die wärmste und schönste Zeit des Jahres. Zu dieser Jahreszeit gehört es, dass wir uns sehr viel draußen aufhalten, auch zum essen und trinken. Daher wäre es schön, wenn ihr Speisen und Getränke mitbringen würdet. Um die genaue Organisation kümmern wir uns wenn der Termin näher rückt.
Bedenkt bitte jedoch jetzt schon, dass zwischen 22 und 6 Uhr das befahren des Feldbergplateaus mit Motorrädern verboten ist! Für Autos sind Parkplätze vorhanden, wer mit dem Motorrad kommen will kann dieses unterhalb des Plateaus parken und die letzten Meter hochlaufen. Vielleicht macht ihr auch einen sportlichen Ausflug zum Event und kommt mit dem Fahrrad!

This important point in time is celebrated by many cultures. Especially in the scandinavian and baltic countries, the celebrations of the summer solstice are the second-most important holiday after Christmas.
The summer solstice 2012 is exactly at 1:09 CEST on June 21st. Thus, the night from June 20th to June 21st 2012 is the shortest night of the year. To celebrate this point in time that marks the beginnig of summer, we will meet
on the plateau of the Feldberg at
21:00 on June 20th. From this night on, the days will become shorter again, but the warmest and most wonderful season has begun. Part of this season is spending lots of time outdoors, especially for eating and drinking. Therefore it would be nice if you could bring food and drink. We will plan this as the event draws nearer.
Please note that motorcycles are forbidden on the Feldberg between 22:00 and 6:00! There is a parking lot for cars, if you want to come with your motorcycle please park it below the plateau and walk the last meters. Maybe you want to make an athletic trip to the event and come with your bicycle!
