This is the first AVC (Adamastor Virtual Cache) intended to
encourage others to explore the wonders of nature and to pursue
geocaching in areas where actual physical caches are considered
inadvisable. These would be environmentally sensitive areas largely
within most National Parks boundaries. Adamastor, the Titan, whose
brooding presence lies across the Southern Cape Peninsula, speaks
to those “… who come in search for fleece of gold, within the
limits of my dread domain.” (Luiz de Camoes ~ Lusiadas) The message
here is that the Virtual Series, would avoid physically disturbing
any part of the environment and keep strictly to existing paths. As
will be seen, such restrictions need not detract in any way from
the magic, adventure and enjoyment that is geocaching. This is my
first Virtual Cache. Let’s see what happens! This will concern
those interested in arboreal rocks, flora and fauna and sport. The
following story (even the title) is riddled with clues and revolves
around the relationship of an elephant, two American presidents and
cricket.
At the given location, you may find the Aloe Bush (Get it?). In
days of old, both the elephant and cricket were great. Now, only
the aloe bush is big, but it still comes after the elephant.
However, instead of looking up to these giants as before, we need
to look down - but please, not necessarily so humbly! This
relationship is definitely not sisterly. Maybe, Granny can help or
even great-grandmother. Who knows, it could even be a maiden
aunt.
To claim the cache, bring me the name of a famous South African
