Geocache Description:

This Geocache is part of the "20's Speakeasy GeoTour" located in the Benton/ West City and Rend Lake area. This cache is located at the old Franklin County Jail. This was the site of the execution of the notorious gangster Charlie Birger who was found guilty of ordering the murder of West City Mayor Joe Adams. Birger was hanged on April 19, 1928.
