Geocache Description:

E.T. got scared and ran into the woods. Please find him. Bring a pen and possibly waterproof boots, depending on the season. The cache is not at the listed coordinates but is somewhere nearby.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was a 1982 adventure video game developed and published by Atari for the Atari 2600 based on the Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film with Drew Barrymore.

The objective of the game was to guide E.T. through various screens to collect three pieces of an interplanetary telephone that would then allow him to contact his home planet.

To meet the 1982 Christmas market, the E.T. video game was developed in only five weeks. The game is now frequently cited as the worst video game in history. As a result of overproduction and returns, millions of unsold cartridges ended up buried in a landfill. The game's commercial failure contributed to Atari’s $500 million loss in 1983 and the crash of the video game industry that followed.
