Geocache Description:

Canal towpath to left, then go right on hill path, but not far up. No need to go through fencing, but you are near a little beck/ditch. Could be a nice cache to start with, especially with youngsters. The cache is hidden in a hollow log to the right of the path as you walk away from the canal and get ready to go uphill. You have to get down low, reach in, feel around, and tap downwards for a hollow sound.

The cache is a metal ammo box inside a camouflage bag that fastens with velcro. The box itself needs an adult to open it, as it's a bit tight (being new at the time of writing); release the lever at the side and then give the hinged lid a bit of a yank. It contains a small plastic container with a logbook and a variety of treasures. When you've finished, please ensure the box is closed tightly again, replaced in the camouflage bag secured with the velcro, and tucked out of sight. This was the third attempt at setting it, the others having been found unacceptable (once on a SSSI, and the second near a Premium cache). Very handy for those on their way to the new housing development - sadly, the ponies had to be relocated because of the building plans. The cache is also near Pooh Sticks - and others in that general direction. If you turn right at the first pathway (which looks like a drive to someone's house, but isn't) after heading uphill from the cache, near the top of the slope, and go slightly around to the right, then past the postbox around the bend, and then walk along towards the tennis courts, you'll be rewarded by a display of wood people and friends, which is lovingly maintained by the residents, and changes with the different seasons and holidays. Meanwhile, there's often a soundtrack of firing practice from Bisley.
